On Friday, June 11, 1999, at approximately 12:25 pm I observed a suspicious white male in the store. About 2 weeks ago, a customer had complained to one of our Jewelry associates about a man who was following her teenage daughter. The associate paged me and identified the man to me, as he was on his way out of the store at that time. It was this same individual that I recognized today who was back in the store. As I began to watch him, it was obvious he was only in the store to look at women customers. He not only would look but he would follow them around the store. This lasted for about 10 – 15 minutes. He then selected a package of gum and got in line at the front checkouts, directly behind a woman wearing a short green dress. After he made his purchase he followed her out of the store and into the parking lot. I followed him out and paralleled his movements. Her car was parked in the middle of the lot about halfway to the Big Boy Restaurant. He walked on the opposite side of the aisle until she prepared to enter her vehicle. He then circled around and came up in front of her car. She was just about to get into her car as he approached her driver’s side door. I was now near the rear of her car and I yelled, “Hey you! Come here!” as I got between her vehicle and the subject. The woman had since gotten in her car and closed the door. As he stood there I told him I knew what he was trying to do and that if I ever saw him stalking women around her again, I’d call the police. He said nothing and walked away to his vehicle and left. I wrote down the license plate number and called Cranberry Twp. Police. Subject was later identified as having prior arrests for sexual assault.
